ABOUT THE SHOW
EURYDICE reimagines the classic myth of Orpheus and Eurydice not through Orpheus's infamous pilgrimage to retrieve his bride, but through the eyes of its heroine. Dying too young on her wedding day, Eurydice must journey to the underworld, where she reunites with her father and struggles to remember her lost love.
THE COMPANY
Founded in 2014, with our first production in 2015, Mad as Hops has created all kinds of stories: full of mystery, love, revenge, disaster, hope, and magic.
Mad as Hops became a theatre collective, making our cast and crew an integral part of the creative team.
This is one of our favourite stories, and we’re excited to share it with you.
THE COLLECTIVE
EURYDICE
BRIA GIBBONS likes long walks on the beach, talking about her notions, and startling her fellow cast mates. Her dislikes include getting caught in the rain and long flights of stairs. After acting in central Newfoundland, she has settled in as a member of the Mad as Hops collective. Her approach to life is “it’s okay to stumble and fall, so long as you get up, try again and don’t look back.”
ORPHEUS
TANNER HUDSON is an actor from the far away lands of Conception Bay South. He's been active in the local theatre scene for over a decade, acting in everything from amateur productions to radio dramas to Shakespeare. He also has written award-winning short stories and received his Honours in English Literature from Memorial University. A life-long Greek mythology fan, Tanner was ecstatic to take on the role of Orpheus. This marks his third production with Mad as Hops, having previously acted in The Grown-Ups (2023) and Love and Information (2025). He would like to thank his family and his dog, Casey, for their continued support. Most of all, thank you. We couldn't do local theatre without the support of people like you. Enjoy the show!
THE FATHER
ANDREW O'BRIEN is a longtime veteran of the stage, enjoying his debut performance with Mad as Hops in the role of Eurydice’s father. His performance background includes musicals, theatre productions, Irish/Newfoundland performances, and even a couple of film projects.
THE NASTY INTERESTING MAN,
LORD OF THE UNDERWORLD
EMYN HAYDEN A passionate storyteller and creator, Emyn is thrilled to be collaborating again with Mad as Hops Productions for Eurydice. His recent credits include Love and Information by Caryl Churchill and All In The Timing by David Ives. He is deeply drawn to the reimagining of Sarah Ruhl’s script, finding immense joy in exploring his characters and the creation of the world on stage. Outside of the theatre, he can be found working on one of his creative endeavours with his dogs at home or at his studio cutting hair. He would like to extend his heartfelt gratitude to the incredibly talented cast and crew, as well as his family and friends for their support.
LITTLE STONE
LUNA FOOTE has done many productions ranging from stage to film and everywhere in between. On stage, they have portrayed a variety of roles such as Emi Edwards in Begets: Fall of a High School Ronin and Maeve in The Grown Ups with Mad As Hops, Christie in Aftershocks, a Dog With Two Tales original play written and directed by Cameron and Noah Johnston, Bridey in Bridey’s Birth Control with PriniciPALs Productions, Frankenpuppet with Play Dead Productions and many more. As for film, Luna has been so fortunate to have worked alongside actors from such things as Deadpool and Frontier, as well as acting in Hunting Pignut, written and directed by Martine Blue and starred in Perfect Family as Nadia, also written and directed by Martine Blue.
Now a professional Dungeon Master leading the next generation through spice adventures, Luna would like to thank Mad as Hops productions for this opportunity and for building a community for theatre actors to thrive and grow. They would also like to thank their parents Donna and Bill Foote for their unconditional love and support.
BIG STONE
KATHRYN LEWIS is a performer based in St. John's, and this will be her fifth show with Mad as Hops Productions. This will also be her third time acting with the company, having previously appeared in All in the Timing and Love and Information. Before stepping onto the stage, Kathryn worked as a stage manager on productions with the company. She also coaches and performs improv around the city. She is excited to be part of Eurydice and grateful for the opportunity to continue creating theatre with this wonderful community.
LOUD STONE
MARY J may be new to the theatre but she is not new to the stage. A storyteller, comedian, emcee and actor, this St. John’s-based entertainer has performed on stages such as the historic Majestic Theatre in St. John’s NL and West Side Comedy Club in New York. Inspired by the community connectedness of oral tradition she likes to use her quick wit and passionate expression to bring authenticity and life to each character she plays and joke she cracks. You can keep up with her shows and project @the.mj.experience on Instagram!
STAGE MANAGER
APRIL WALTERS is delighted Mad as Hops called her back to be the stage manager for the company. April is an aspiring artist with a focus on video games, film, and now theatre. She has always been surrounded by the arts through her family, especially when being recruited to help run lines or give feedback. April is grateful for the opportunities and experiences Mad as Hops Productions has provided and is thrilled to see what comes next!

We acknowledge the support of ArtsNL, which last year invested $5.3 million to foster and promote the creation and enjoyment of the arts for the benefit of all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
OUR SUPPORTERS
StandupComedyNL is a non-profit hub for comedy in Newfoundland and Labrador. We promote local shows, support comedians, and connect audiences with live events across the province.
From professional comedy shows to open mic comedy shows—and everything in between—we're building a fun, inclusive comedy community, whether you're looking to laugh or take the stage.
As part of our creative process, the cast took part in a character-building exercise: creating playlists inspired by the characters they portray.
The result was a collection of playlists as unique as the characters themselves.
